Venice, FL Real Estate
The City of Venice is located in Southwest Florida on the Gulf of Mexico, midway between Tampa and Ft. Myers. Venice is a charming small city to call home. It is known as the City on the Gulf because it is one of the few cities on the west coast of Florida that occupies a coastal area with no barrier island.
Venice has a small town feel, with antique shops, clothing, jewelry, gift and golf shops, many restaurants and sidewalk cafes. Venice Avenue is the heart of Venice. Venice hosts arts and crafts festivals, holiday parades and a farmer’s market. Shops, restaurants, outdoor cafes, and a park are right in the beautiful historic area of the Venice town center.
The waterways are excellent for canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, skiing, boating, and fishing, Venice beaches and coastal waters are the best places on the Gulf Coast to find fossilized shark’s teeth. If you dive a couple of miles out you can find shark’s teeth three to seven inches long. Every August Venice has a shark’s tooth festival. The public beaches offer parking, picnic areas and restrooms. The gulf water is very clear and the sand is medium with some shells.
